Stated to be the War Seal of Lord Herbert Kitchner, 1st Earl Kitchener, Second Boer War, South Africa.
Kitchener succeeded Roberts as overall comander in South Africa in November 1900, and is remembered for his brutal tactics against the Boers, both Commandos and civilians.
