Telegram announcing the death of Lieutanant Colonel F.V. Northey, 3rd Battalion, 60th Rifles, who died on the 6th April 1879 at the Battle of Ginghilovo during the Anglo Zulu War. Northey recieved a mortal bullet wound and died four days later.

 The telegram, dated May the 2nd 1879 states that he died '... as a soldier and a christian man should, peaceful out of pain resigned.' 

The telegraph is attatched by one edge only to a sheet of paper and could be removed if neccesary. 

A seperate sheet of glued on newspaper cuttings relating to the Battle of Ginghilovo and Northeys death, compiled by the Northey family at the time of his death.

Also included is a very rare original photograph of F.V. Northy, stated to be only the second image of him known to exist.
