Cornelielius Vin was a trader in Natal who took a chance on a trip into Zululand just before the war broke out and subsequantly became trapped there as a prisoner of Cetshwayo, and later a translator for him. Published by (Bishop) Colenso, who thought it a crucial work for those who seek to understand the Zulu point of view.
